INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Christian Lundgaard is turning Indianapolis Motor Speedway into his favorite racing venue.Less than 10 months after the 21-year-old from Denmark earned his first IndyCar podium finish on the 14-turn, 2.439-mile road course, he returned Friday and claimed his first career pole.Lundgaard posted a lap of 1 minute, 9.3321 seconds, barely holding off Sweden’s Felix Rosenqvist for the top spot in Saturday’s Indianapolis Grand Prix. It’s the first time Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing has taken a pole since Takuma Sato in August 2020, and the team has three cars among the eight fastest on the 27-car starting grid.“It feels awesome, getting my first P1,” Lundgaard said. “Having said that, Jack (Harvey) is P4 and Graham (Rahal) is P8 and that’s the best qualifying we’ve had in two years. Honestly, I didn’t think that lap was good enough.”Rosenqvist certainly made the wait difficult for Lundgaard on his final hard-charging lap. DENVER (AP) — Colorado Rockies right-hander Antonio Senzatela will miss at least two months with a sprained ulnar collateral ligament. Senzatela, however, avoided the same fate as fellow starter Germán Márquez, who had season-ending Tommy John surgery on Friday. “The news is favorable, considering,” Rockies manager Bud Black said Friday before Colorado faced Philadelphia. “In these cases you always sort of expect the worst. But this is actually OK.” Senzatela was pulled with two outs in the third inning Wednesday at Pittsburgh after experiencing forearm tightness. His velocity had dipped in only his second start since returning after tearing the ACL in his left knee on Aug. 18 at St. Louis. “You could tell it wasn’t coming out like it came out in New York,” Black said. Earlier this month, Colorado lost Márquez to a torn UCL. Black said Senzatela wouldn’t pick up a ball for at least three weeks. “He should be able to pitch again this year,” Black said. CLEVELAND (AP) — Like almost everything in his path, Dawand Jones wanted to flatten the rumor. After Cleveland’s massive rookie offensive tackle dropped from a projected first-round NFL draft pick to the Browns in the fourth round, a report surfaced saying Jones had scared teams off by telling them he dreamed of playing in the NBA.Questions about his passion for football reappeared.Jones was initially quiet about the basketball-first narrative before the former Ohio State standout reacted with a pointed response on Twitter, posting, “False like where do y’all get this information from.”At the team’s rookie mini-camp Friday, the 6-foot-8, 380-pounder went a step further to straighten the record. Taking a cue from his past playing hoops, Jones rejected the assertions like he was swatting away a shot at the rim.“It just wasn’t right, in my opinion,” he said. “Just leak something that wasn’t right.”Jones felt he needed to defend himself. When he did, his response on social me...LIV Golf Tulsa Par Scores

AURORA, Colo. (KDVR) — If Aurora helped Denver police the 2020 protests, which city is responsible for the lawsuits that followed? That's the crux of a new lawsuit filed Friday in Denver District Court. It pits Aurora against Denver over liability in the 2020 protest response, when some protesters suffered severe injuries at the hands of police. Aurora and its police officers were named as co-defendants in at least a handful of those claims."Aurora has repeatedly asked Denver to confirm that it will indemnify Aurora or otherwise assume responsibility for these claims as required by state law and the parties' longstanding practice and agreement," the lawsuit claims. "Denver has refused, and so Aurora now seeks a declaration establishing that Denver does in fact have that obligation."
