The roster of Gopher linebackers in 2023 compared to 2022 reveal the realities and ravages of the current state of college football.Inexperienced players Devon Williams and Maverick Baranowski have been thrust into starting roles in all six games this season. A year ago, they were the No. 8 and 9 linebackers on Minnesota’s total tackle list. Williams had two tackles and Baranowski one.How Minnesota was forced to start a redshirt freshman and redshirt sophomore this season has been the byproduct of three primary factors:1. Inevitable graduations. Last year spelled the end of college football for top tackler and leader Mariano Sori-Marin as well as backup Josh Aune of St. Paul.2. Injuries. Top returner Cody Lindeberg was expected to be an all-Big Ten-caliber player, but the Anoka native’s leg injury has forced him to miss all six games so far this season. Also, Derik LeCaptain is out for the year with an arm injury.3. Transfer portal. Backups Braelen Oliver and Donald Willis exited th...No one injured after head-on crash in Pownal

Flo Milli at the Novo: Alabama-born rapper Flo Milli is something of a regular in our “In Rotation” column, due to the fact that she insists on releasing great tracks and great videos. Back in July, she released a self-titled track as part of the celebration of the 50th anniversary of hip-hop. The song is a reimagining of Lil’ Wayne’s “A Milli,” and it kicks off with the no-nonsense lines, “Motherfucker I kill, copyright my shit ‘cos weird b**ches like to steal.” YES! It’ll be great to hear that, and more, at Novo. Maiya the Don, another awesome female rapper, is also on the bill. “With over half a billion streams to date, 23-year-old, Alabama born rapper, Flo Milli has taken the world by storm in her short ascent,” reads her bio. “Releasing her first official track ‘Beef FloMix’ on her SoundCloud in late 2018, she had gone viral by early 2019 on TikTok, marking her breakout success and she hasn’t let up since. The program forces carbon-intensive fuel companies to pay for cleaner burning transportation fuels. But as the state eyes an electric future, winding down support for some of the fuels the standard helped proliferate is proving highly contentious. The case of biofuel made from dairy farm manure is perhaps Exhibit A of those tensions. The California Air Resources Board is planning to overhaul its fuel standard, including consideration of a 2040 phaseout of credits that put a premium on using methane emitted by cows to produce natural gas. About half of the state’s methane emissions come from dairy and livestock, so collecting the gases wafting off of ma...Latest news
